Funerals

When someone close to us dies, no matter the circumstances, it is always a challenging and emotional time.

I am here to help and support.

For many people, a funeral is an important aspect of farewelling the loved one. I believe this is a time where people need the support to be able to craft this just the way they want it. In other words – do justice to the person they love.

A funeral provides an important function.

It is a time to rejoice in the accomplishments of the person who has died - to honour their contribution to the others and celebrate their success, not just professionally but personally. Most of all, it is a time those who loved and appreciated the person to give thanks at a suitable time and place for all concerned. They can celebrate and grieve the loss of the loved one and then send them on their next journey.

This funeral service may take many forms and could be held in any venue. There may be elements of faith, culture or ritual that are important. Whatever you want, I will work with you to honour your loved one.

Hence, my role as a celebrant is to ensure that the work I do caters for all the needs of the family and aim to have the funeral service reflect your wishes.

As a trained celebrant, my desire is to work with families to plan what is uniquely yours and make a difficult time easier for all.

Funeral services

Some people like to work through a funeral director who finds the appropriate celebrant and others prefer to make contact directly. I am very comfortable to have direct contact be it by phone or email if it is easier in the first instance.

From the moment we engage, I focus on your wishes. The first aspect of this is a meeting. I prefer it to be at your home as this is the hub of the family and the place where people are most comfortable. However, if it is easier to have this elsewhere, I will honour your wishes.

At this time, I am there to help you as you prepare the farewelll. We will talk and I will spend most of my time listening or asking questions so that I gain a real sense of what your loved one meant to you and how you would like to honour them.

I support you with the crafting of the service and can supply readings or other materials. I can write eulogies or help others to craft their own.

Prior planning for funeral services

It is more common now for those who are near death to express their wishes about what they would like at their funeral service.

I am very willing to meet with you in this circumstance and work with you to ensure your wishes are met. In fact, it is a privilege for me to do this and we will organise whatever time is needed.

Funeral assistance – the writing of tributes

Sometimes families wish to conduct their own funerals but may need some help with how to craft or write a tribute.

I am available to assist here be it to write the tribute based on your wishes or assist you to write your own.

I support you with the crafting of the service and can supply readings or other materials. I can write eulogies or help others to craft their own.

After our meeting, I will write your service for you and then send it to you so that you can make changes if you require or add important details that you may have forgotten about.

I will liaise with the funeral director so that all things are organized.

No matter what, we will do this together and I will be honoured to work alongside you.
